Terms of Service

By creating an account or using HikeLevel, you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

HikeLevel is a gamified tracking experience for hikes and trail runs. You log activities; HikeLevel awards XP, ranks, badges, streaks, and seasonal-quest progression. The service is provided "as is" and is intended for recreational use only.

• You must provide accurate information and keep your credentials secure.
• You are responsible for all activity that occurs on your account.
• You must be at least 16 years old, or the minimum digital-consent age in your country.
• One account per person. You may not transfer or sell your account.

You agree to use HikeLevel honestly. You will not:

• Log fake or fabricated activities to inflate XP, ranks, or badges.
• Automate, script, or otherwise manipulate the progression system.
• Attempt to bypass paywalls, entitlement checks, or rate limits.
• Reverse engineer, scrape, or interfere with the service's infrastructure.
• Use the service for any unlawful, abusive, or harmful purpose.

XP, levels, ranks, badges, streaks, and quest rewards are part of the gamification experience. They have no real-world monetary value, are not redeemable for cash or credit, and are not transferable between accounts. They exist only inside HikeLevel.

HikeLevel may modify, rebalance, reset, or retire progression systems, XP calculations, ranks, badges, and rewards over time as the product evolves. Such changes do not entitle you to any refund or compensation.

• Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card details.
• HikeLevel Lifetime is a one-time purchase. "Lifetime" refers to the operational lifetime of the HikeLevel service.
• Prices are shown in your local currency where supported. VAT is included in displayed prices where applicable.
• Founding Explorer pricing is limited and may end without notice once the announced quota is reached.
• You may request a refund within 14 days of purchase under EU consumer law, unless you have already made substantial use of the unlocked features.

We work hard to keep HikeLevel running, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or always-available service. We may perform maintenance, change features, or suspend the service to protect users or infrastructure.

HikeLevel, including its name, logo, design, code, copy, rank lore, badge artwork, and gameplay systems, is owned by HikeLevel and protected by applicable IP laws. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the service for personal, non-commercial purposes.

You retain ownership of the activity data you log. By using the service, you grant HikeLevel the technical license required to store, process, and display this data back to you and to generate the shareable cards you choose to create.

You may delete your account at any time from Settings. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, abuse the service, or harm other users. Where possible, we will give notice before taking action. Termination for serious abuse may be immediate and may result in forfeiture of Lifetime access without refund.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, HikeLevel is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits, or progression. HikeLevel does not provide safety, navigation, or medical advice; you remain responsible for your own safety on every hike or trail run.

Our total liability for any claim related to the service is limited to the amount you paid HikeLevel in the 12 months preceding the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the European Union member state in which the HikeLevel operator is established, without prejudice to mandatory consumer-protection rights you enjoy in your country of residence.

We may update these Terms as the service evolves. Material changes will be announced in the app or by email before they take effect. Continued use of HikeLevel after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
